Spanish Civil War

Real Madrid manager Roy Keane has stirred up controversy once again, this time with a withering attack on fellow Spanish side Levante.

When discussing the proposed new national cup competitions, Keane said to the press “So let’s say in Spain, at the mo there is only Real Madrid and Levante. So when I win 8 nil, does that mean Real win the Spanish cup?

Levante boss Parfitt responded thus….

“Firstly, Roy Keane needs to understand that football is a team game. It’s not when I win 8 nil, it’s when WE win 8 nil. Secondly, Keane need only look at the youth cup match last week. He had all of his Billy big Ball’s kids on show, and what happened? A lad we paid Wolves £300k for scored twice and made them look like mugs. A goalkeeper we got cheap off Stuttgart put in a 10/10 performance. The defence & midfield put in a shift and didnt give Real a moment’s piece. The front man, Dani Romera, caused their defence countless headaches. If Keane feels that it is that easy, I’d invite him around to my office for a friendly chat after the youth match at our place. I think we all know how that will end up though.

Keane might be doing ok at the moment, but the fact is, even neil Warnock would struggle not to win the league with that squad. Anybody can take a bunch of superstars and win it all. Here at Levante though, we do it the hard way. One day, I will make this club the biggest club in Spain. The biggest club in Europe, the biggest, most successful club in all of Top 100. Keane, keep an eye out over your shoulder, we are coming for you……..”

Hirst Responds to Brar...

After the last night’s close run defeat to Liverpool, Genoa head coach Frank Hirst was asked if there was any truth in the rumours linking his ‘Capitano’, Mattia Perin to Bayern Munich.
Hirst had this to say, “Mattia is Genoa through and through, he is my first choice goalkeeper and captain and will be for a long long time. Yes, Bayern have had Officials at each of our last games and it has been very offputting, especially when the man with the fake glasses and moustache combo blew his vuvuzela at Anfield last night, just as Campana took his shot, which totally put off Perin between the sticks. Gursimran tried to offer me that Pan faced calamity, Simon Mignolet in a deal for Perin, is the guy serious!!??"

Hirst laughs off comments made by Brar regarding Perin

LOKOMOTIV MOSKVA - A TOUGH SEASON 2 AND AVOIDING THE BOUNCE

Recently Top 100 correspondent Fanny Licker travelled to Moscow to catch up with Lokomotiv Moskva manager Greg Owen to see how Season 2 has been going after the team gained promotion from Division 3 to Division 2.

Fanny: “How has Season 2 been going for you Greg?"

Greg: “Well, let me start by saying that we were very pleased to get promoted last season. Our fans were celebrating all over Mother Russia”.

“Even the No.1 Loko fan - our esteemed President - got in on the act”.
Lokomotiv Moskva fan Vladimir Putin joins in the celebrations

“But this season has not been good for us. Most of all we are trying to avoid the bounce”.

Fanny: “The bounce?"

Greg: “Yes, the bounce … as demonstrated here by our club physio Anya Neeze”.

Fanny: “Oh, I see. I have the same problem myself. A lack of support is the main problem. But how do you intend to avoid the bounce?"

Greg: “It’s quite simple, We need to score more goals than the opposition. We are practicing new techniques in our training to help us do this”.

Fanny: “What sort of techniques?"

Greg: “Well there is one that we have learned from Milan that we are practicing. The esteemed Milan manager Stephen Beddows has been to our training ground to teach us how they play the game in Italy. He is teaching our players how to fall over. Then when our physio Anya runs onto the field the opposition will be distracted enough for us to score."

Milan technique for falling over

Fanny: “And you think that will be enough?"

Greg: “Well last season teams like Athletic Club, Benfica and Galatasaray needed 46 points to avoid relegation in Division 2. So far this season we have seven points after nine games. So we need almost 40 points from our next 29 games to stay in this division”.

Fanny: “And if you don’t?"

Greg: “Let’s just say that I personally cannot afford that. If we drop back down to Division 3 then the consequences could be very severe. There are stories of how the No.1 Loko fan fired the last manager who let the team be relegated.

No.1 fan Vladimir Putin fires the last Lokomotiv Moskva manager

Fanny: “So when are you going to start scoring more goals than the opposition?"

Greg: “We have been trying to do that all season so far. But we do have a grudge match coming up against Zenit this weekend which we will be aiming to make the start of a glorious run”.

Fanny: “So you’re confident of beating Zenit?"

Greg: “Confident … well, if you are asking me … I cannot say … confident is not necessarily what I would say …"

At that point the Lokomotiv Moskva club PR minder stepped in to pull manager Greg Owen away saying that he had an urgent meeting with Mr Putin. It remains to be seen whether he can turn around Lokomotiv Moskva’s current poor form. Stay tuned for further updates.

Gursimran Brar refuses to discuss Bayern transfer targets

Gursimran Brar has refused to be drawn on Bayern Munich's transfer targets and insists he will be happy with his squad if he fails to sign another player this season.

The SMFA Cup Winners have had four bids rejected by Genoa for goal-keeper Mattia Perin and have been heavily linked with a big money move for James McCarthy.

Mattia Perin attempted to force a move by refusing to play in the 2nd round fixture against Liverpool. However, he played to avoid ant contract dispute but made his feelings about the club keeping him against his will clear by allowing an easy goal to creep in. Its a game which would really disappoint the Manager Frank Hirst as despite dominating the game for large portions, Perin's error or voluntary actions cost him.

Speaking to the media the manager Frank Hirst said, he is a young kid and obviously when you are linked with a club of the magnitude of Bayern it can turn your head but i shall convince him Genoa is the right place for his development.

But, Perin who plays for Genoa said, there were issues to settle before playing the next game for the club.'There is a detail that is not resolved and while it is not settled, I will not play at a 100%.

Gursimran Brar refused to be drawn into comments on the issue. He said, i would take questions on our emphatic cup victory over Anderlecht or any of our players. 'I don't speak about players from other teams'.
"I have a good squad.I'm happy with the squad I have.If i get another player in the near future, great. If not,we go with what we have."

Responding to questions on Bayern having a deal with Mattia Perin he said,  Bayern have no such agreement with Perin or any other player, we would first agree a fee with a club and then approach a player.

About Me: Finally a story without Balotelli

About Me:

So I can be as creative as I like I guess about Milan, Balotelli etc etc… but it is perhaps about time that I write about myself, and if it goes down well I might try and make it a regular thing.

Me and SM:

I found SM back in 2009, when my daughter was about 4/5 months old, it was my cousin Ryan Chisholm introduced me to this amazing management game and to be honest for many years I was just ‘a result checker,’ my favourite gameworld always was EC2 (ID: 4) where I was Portsmouth for 350+ matches but it was one day in August 2014 when everything changed and I got offered by SM the Man Utd job… as a lifelong United fan from Burton it was a chance I could not pass up… and the rest is history.

My development into a blogger and avid SM addict is not only attributed to EC2 and Man Utd but also a fair amount of credit has to go to the unlikely friendship that I struck up via chat with Mr Frank Hirst, I say unlikely as he is a Scouser and I despise Scousers more than the useless mother of my kids… but over time Frank and I realised that online golf games and work were not as interesting as SM and it is fair to say we have collaborated quite well to create some cracking blogs for certain gw’s, in particular Gold 279 and SM Top 100 to name a few.

My love of football:

Football has always been my first love, my love of United actually pre-dates the glory years and as such I can gladly say I am not a glory hunter :0)

My Dad was never really into football, but when I was 5 my auntie got married to Ryan Chisholm dad, who was United made, he took me to my first two United games in 1992/93… the year football began Jand I was looking enough to see two pivotal games that season my first the 2-1 win against Southampton, Giggs scoring twice and the Sheffield Wednesday game, Bruce scoring twice, both matches being won in the last 10 minutes.

Been to Old Trafford a lot over the years and been lucky enough to have seen United play in the USA and Italy as well… this season I have been unfortunate enough to witness both those memorable LVG performances against Norwich and Sheff Utd J
My daughter at The Greatest football ground in the World v Norwich
My 2nd team without question is Burton Albion, been watching them since I was 7 or 8 and what has happened at that club in truly phenomenal. Dr Martens Prem to League 1 in 15 years. Clough and the Chairman Mr Robinson absolute geniuses IMO (and Rowett and JFH). I think that St George’s Park being in Burton conspires to help make the team a success. They are allowed to train there and in all honesty the facilities are excellent, I play rugby and we get to train there and so does my step-son with his football side. I do think that in the long-term it will have an impact on the success of English football.
Persephone with new QPR signing El Khayati

Then my third team – which is actually why I decided to write this particular blog – who in the last 3 weeks IMO typify everything that is wrong with football – Derby County.

Derby, like Burton and United I have been watching for many years, not as avidly as the latter two but still follow them.

My children both play for the local team, Winshill FC, and every year the club get invited to Pride Park to get to be flag bearers, go on the pitch blah blah. This season it was scheduled to be the game v Preston, on 30th January. Back in November I paid my money, £36 for 3 tickets, and the kids getting to go on the pitch etc.

Then the FA Cup draw – Derby draw United – Derby had promised that as a club we could still get to go to the game blah blah blah… but after ignoring the Winshill Club sec for days, he had to go directly to the club and ask Derby if they were going to keep their promise.

Derby said yes they would but as it was Man Utd it would be more expensive.

No problem. I have no problem as I recognize that the tickets would be more expensive as it was Man Utd – BUT from £36 it would become £86 – AND Derby were charging for the kids to go on the pitch £20 – so £36 became £106 – IMO disgraceful behaviour from Derby and as such why I hope they fail miserably this season and end up facing Burton Albion next season which would be the ultimate achievement for Burton and embarrassment for a club the size of Derby.
RANT OVER… J

About my kids

both kids ready to play
So I have two kids, a 15 year old step-son Alessandro, who is in Year 11 and doing his gcse’s. I met his Mum when I worked in Italy and we used to live in Milan (hence my affiliation to Milan in Top 100). She wanted to come to England and then got pregnant with my daughter and we are still here in the UK…

He naturally loves his football and I converted him to be a United supporter, to be fair he wasn't into football when I met him, he only liked Dragonball. He is a good little player as well, slightly quicker than me. I have him play for my 6 a side team (see below), and love watching him play and have on occasions taken over management of his teams as and when other managers have been unavailable, but my managerial win record in Youth football is pretty poor tbh, I think they drew once J

Last season he finally finished top scorer (he is a winger), going into the last game he was one goal ahead of his best mate and in that game he scored 1 and gave his best mate 2 assists so they finished level for the golden boot.

As for my daughter, Persephone, she is a handful, highly strung and very demanding and she is only 6! I have also naturally encouraged her to love football and she also plays (although over the last month or so she seems to losing her interest.)

However in her first ever tournament prior to it I said to her “If you score a goal I will buy you some new shoes” (she loves shoes) and in the first match she scored, in the second match she scored again and then she scored again! Safe to say I kept my promise and eventually brought her ONE pair of shoes.

In her first ‘league’ season she has 4 goals so far this season and I hope she sticks at it but we will see. The only issue I have with her is she thinks that her favourite teams are in this order, Barcelona, Liverpool, Chelsea and then United. I have explained to her that this is not acceptable and we are working on eroding 2 names from that list at present.

About my football career:

I am now 31 (getting on) but I would say I am at the peak of my football powers. I have always loved football as is clearly displayed above, and in 2011 after getting married I decided that the day after we would do a match – England (my family) v Italy (my other’s half’s family). It was a cracking match and naturally I scored on my international debut – it was 8 a side and even though the Italian’s had two players under the age of 14 in their ranks they ran us close with England winning on penalties, with Ryan Chisholm (I think) scoring the winner.

From that great international showpiece DCA United were born, a 6 a side team and we play in two local leagues on Wednesdays and Sundays, founded in 2011 we are still going strong, and as you can imagine I have a spreadsheet with all the stats from our very first game, number of wins, appearances per player, goals etc.
At present I have played (I think) 306 games out of our 315 total and finally late last year got my 50th goal. It was a special moment. I especially love playing with Alessandro which I think every dad should do if they ever get chance to play football with their kids in a competitive environment.

That’s it – my first serious piece about me that doesn’t involve Balotelli.

I might write about my love affair with Balotelli that has a genuine history to it next time :)

KINNEAR ANSWERS HIS ITALIAN CRITIC

Liverpool boss Gordon Kinnear has came out fighting after hearing of his distant cousin, Gino Kinnearo’s remarks after the AC Milan-Liverpool game last night. Kinnear didn’t hold back and blasted Kinnearo with both barrels….

‘Gino Kinnearo, let me tell you about Gino Kinnearo. This half man-half twat is the black sheep of the family. No one likes him because he is a ‘me, me, me’ guy. He has the brain of a goldfish and doesn’t even know how to tie his own laces yet. His real name isn’t even Kinnearo, it’s Smith!!! His father was Graham Smith, the local milkman. His mother, my auntie Jackie, slept with everyone in town. She had to because she is so ugly that she went to the beauticians and it took them 12 hours just to give her a quote. The local peeping tom even asked her to shut her blinds.
Gino Kinnearo is the relative that no one wants to visit. He says I didn’t try to see him when I was I Italy yesterday. Well, that’s a lie because I did go to see him but he was so far up Beddows arse that I only seen his feet. That’s why he didn’t see me. His wife is no oil painting either. She comes from mixed race parents.. Her mum used to run the 100m and her dad ran the 400m. He is the worst journalist in the world. He doesn’t even write for a paper. He lives in his own little world and hangs on to whoever will accept him and that seems to be Beddows at this time. As for his report on last night’s game, it is obvious he is just trying to get into Beddows’ pants. He conveniently forgets to mention that Liverpool only had half a team out and we didn’t expect to get anything from the game. I do admit it was an embarrassing result and to let someone as washed up as Balotelli score twice is shameful. When they come to Anfield we will wipe the floor with them. They relied on the referee giving them the usual favours that Italian teams playing at home always get. The penalty was a joke as Balotelli had to dive 10 metres just to get into the box. De Sciglio’s goal was from 18 yards not the 45 that my half bred cousin reported. Also, what team wins 4-1 and can’t even get a player into the team of the week. Anyway, that’s enough time spent on the greasy haired, monkey fucking, Shane MacGowan lookalike. I am away for a nice massage from Yolanda Squatpump. Slaters.’

Hazard warning

Levante have played four games over the course of the last week, in three seperate competitions, and have a record on three wins (one on penalties) and one draw.

The first game on the little mini run was at home to Torino in the Top 100 shield first round. Levante fielded a side of reserves and youth players. Five of the club’s U21 players were up against Torino. One of those youngsters, the exciting Dutchman Bart Ramselaar was the man that made the Levante goal. Setting Ryan Woods up to put the hosts a goal up on 13 mins.

Levante’s poor record of conceding late goals came back to haunt them once more though, with the experienced Jefferson Farfan getting Torino level with 5 to go. Levante wouldnt be denied though, and won the shootout 5 - 3 to make the 2nd round of any knock out competition for the first time. They have been rewarded with a home tie in round two, with Independiente heading to Spain on 16th Feb.

The next game saw Montpellier head to the Ciudad de Valencia. Just over 19,000 were on hand to witness Jean Beausejour score his first game for the club. His strike on 11mins was enough to seal all three points. The Chilean has moved into a more advanced role since the arrival of Adriano from Barcelona, and is settling into it nicely.

The third game in five days saw the U21’s travel to the Bernabeu. Real Madrid boasted the likes of John Stones, Gerard Delofeu, Timo Werner and Deli Ali in their side amongst others. Levante had nowhere near the same experience as their more illustrious opponents, and the youngsters were also in the Bernabeu pressure cooker for the first time.

The players were completely unaffected by things however, and went in front twice, before eventually coming away with a 2 - 2 draw. Jordan Graham, a £300k signing from Wolves, netted both goals, and along with his goal against Leverkusen on the opening night has taken his account to three. He is also the only player to score for the youth team. Bart Ramselaar created one of the goals, adding to his assist for the senior side earlier in the week, and Dani Romero also bagged an assist.

The true star of the show however, was Odisseas Vlachodimos. The youngGerman keeper put in a 10/10 performance, which is the first of the season in any competition, and has now been Levante’s MOTM in both youth fixtures, averaging 9/10 across the two games.

The fourth and final game of the week was last night against Espanyol. Levante won 2 - 1, with Brazillian midfield meastro netting for the first and second time this season. The first was on 2 minutes, before a winner 3 minutes from time to keep up the clubs good recent run.

Chievo Verona (14th) and West Brom (16th) are the next two sides in line for Levante, and with the Spaniards currently sandwiched between them in 15th, a decent return of points from the two games could have them sitting on the fringes of the play offs. After losing the first four, and only picking up 4 points from the first seven games, that would represent a fantastic turnaround.

Levante have also made another signing for the youth team, with Eden and Thorgan Hazard’s younger brother, Kylian, moving from Ujpest in Hungary. He was on the bench against eal, with Parfitt prefering to show faith in the XI that played Leverkusen, but he is sure to get a game at some point in the competition.

If he can produce some moments like this, then he will fast become a fan favouritein Spain.

Steady improvement at Villa

The Maracana had an expected low turn-out for the first round of the Youth Cup but that did not deter both teams from giving it their all. As noted earlier, Flamengo would prove to be a tricky side. However it was Villa who started off strongly, and Ryan Fraser poked the ball in from a Derlis Gonzalez free-kick in the 7th minute. Flamengo had numerous chances as the game progressed but were unable to convert due to the numerous saves of Per Bratveit. Eventually Villa managed to get another goal. CB Turnbull somehow found himself making a run along with left-back Declan John, who converted the cross to make it 2-0. They didn't seem to make it back in time, for Flamengo got one back just 3 minutes later with eventual MOTM Bonatini smashing it in. The game remained 2-1 to Villa. Flamengo could consider themselves unlucky to gain a point as they had more shots on target. They are unlikely to go far this in the Cup, but they certainly are a tricky proposition, especially home.

Most of the boys flew back home to Villa from Brazil, except for Per and Derlis who had to fly along with the staff to Bordeaux for the D3 game. Derlis started but was clearly knackered, while Per remained on the bench. A game we dominated from start to finish, we grabbed all 3 points through two late goals. Waris scored his maiden goal in the league for us, converting from a Sinclair cross in the 70th minute, while Ayew was fouled in the box 8 minutes later and duly converted the penalty to make it 2-0. Having more possession and shots through the game, it was a deserved victory for the lads.

Ridiculous scheduling meant we had to travel again, this time to Turkey, for Round 1 of the Shield. Fatigue definitely kicked in as we were unable to assert ourselves early on, falling behind to goals from Adin (16') and Bulut (40'). Poor defending and keeping from Hitz meant that we were going out of the knockout competition again, but for Eder, who scored a brace (his maiden goals) through free-kicks to somehow stretch the game to penalties. He couldn't convert his penalty though, being foiled by the keeper. Wickham, Veretout and Grealish all scored great penalties (Grealish, been given a chance, did not thoroughly encourage in his play) but Carlos Sanchez missed his penalty to put us out. Unfortunate, as we again had more shots and possession, but it was an encouraging comeback from 2-0 down. Having already failed two objectives, this could be a blessing in disguise for us as we try to get promoted. Only bad news is for the squad players who will play even lesser now. In that respect Eder has done well.

With that disappointment we finally went back home to prepare for the Hoffenheim game. They had beaten us twice last season, but they lined up in a very defensive 5-4-1. Aimed to get a point in a (tricky?) away game, they did well in stifling us, even if we did get a goal in the 29th minute courtesy   Scocco, who scored his second goal for us. Eventually the frustration led to a false pass and then Polanski fed the ball to captain Schwegler who converted. 1-1 the final result, and we yet again dominated possession. A boring game all round, poor spectacle for the near-full attendance fans. We must improve. Scocco did win MOTM though, impressed with him so far, and a place in the TOTW for the round.

Improve we did, and entertain we did too, in the next game away in Sassuolo. They are a side that were promoted last season and have a good manager in Bob Groucho, hence we were not expecting an easy game. We started off though with a first minute goal from Scott Sinclair, his first of the season, assisted by Ayew. The game was pretty open leading up to the 39th minute where Sinclair turned provider for Sanchez, who also scored his first of the season. Zaza however cut short the deficit through a well-aimed shot, making it 2-1 going into HT. Soon after the break that became 3-1 as Eder assisted Sinclair who scored his second goal. Defrel cut the lead back again in the 72th minute, with Sansone getting his second assist of the game yet it wasn't enough to down Villa who got a valuable win away from home. We have scored the most goals in our division so far after CSKA Moscow which is good to see. We also have 9 different goal-scorers and 10 different assisters. Encouraging. Sinclair of course got MOTM for his virtuoso performance and is a definite for this round's TOTW.

We are now 4th, 5 points off the top. We are facing a strong Basel side next, who are 1 point behind us. Very important game for both teams. Two of their players are ruled out for the game though, which is good news for us, including their own Carlos Sanchez.

In transfer news, Adryan Tavares has joined our youth squad and while isn't a huge upgrade on Ryan Fraser, will be good to have. Sadly Fraser had to go but his goal in the first game will be remembered. Courtney Duffus also left us as part of the deal. He'll make his debut next Saturday in the Youth Cup.

Speaking of which, our scouts were in place on Saturday to watch our rivals play their YC games in the Bernabeu and the BayArena. Here's what they have to say:

Reginald Ray at the Bernabeu: 'Madrid showed their dominance, bossing over possession and the game in general. However Keano failed to get a winning goal over a side inferior in quality. Lot of hype and over-confidence in general. Keano himself later said how he was disappointing by the blue square in the schedule. To be fair, Madrid did have a multitude of shots and if not for Vlachodimos, the keeper, who got a rating of 10 from AS and MOTM, Levante would have lost badly. Entertaining game, definitely, good to see.'

Eric Black at the BayArena: 'Leverkusen stamped their authority upon Flamengo. We've seen that Flamengo were a tricky side, but the Germans were simply professional and there was no doubt who would win. Calhanoglu in particular impressed and we'll need to be upon our best to stand a chance next week against the Germans.'

That's about it for this week's episode. I'd also like to welcome Andre Libras-Boas as manager of Boca, I know him from another GW and believe he is the right fit for Boca. He's already impressed early getting a debut win. Good luck ALB!

Fenerbache weekly press release Issue 1

Hi folks,

Providing time allows from now on I will be doing a weekly press release from Fenerbache with an update on how things have gone for us, adding to it I will use my piece to have a talk Newcastle united and my thoughts on Football in general(Premier League mainly but a few thoughts on other stuff as well) so here goes..

Since my debut post on the blog, Fenerbache have played 3 matches with the 1st a daunting away trip to Madrid to face Real and we started on the back foot, Real forcing 2 good saves from Casilla and another chance from Eriksen fired just over. However the Beneabeu was silenced after 12 minutes when Sow played Callejon in and he finished smartly in off the post for a shock lead. The lead lasted till half time and it was clear Madrid were getting edgy, Neymar booked for dissent. Whatever Roy Keane said at half time certainly did the trick as they equalized straight after the break through Sergio Busquets, 1-1 game on. Chances came and went for both sides, Ucan and Souza going close for Fenerbache and Busquets almost grabbing his 2nd if not for the wonderful reactions of Casilla in goal. Casilla was however beaten for a 2nd time when Bale let fly from distance, the ball caught the keeper out of position as it sailed over him. 2-1 to the Spanish Giants and that’s how it stayed till Full Time. A deserved win for Real but no shame in a narrow defeat.
REAL MADRID 2 FENERBACHE 1.

On Saturday in the Youth cup we entertained Atletico Madrid, and after looking at the team sheets we knew we had a tough night in store for us, what a side they can put out at this level, we simply had to pray they had a night off.
The match started slowly whilst both sides figured each other out until Oliver Torres went down the flank and played in Balde who deftly flicked the ball past the keeper, a sublime touch which left the keeper routed as the ball rolled past him. The rest of the half belonged to Madrid and it was role reversal when Balde linked up with Torres just inside the box, Torres turned his marker and drilled a shot into the far corner, 0-2 and a long 2nd half was in prospect for the under dogs. The 2nd half started like the 1st, and in truth not much happened until the 63rd minute when Fenerbache were awarded a free kick just on the edge of the box, Poulsen stepped up and just put his foot straight through the ball and it flew like a missile into the top corner, 1-2 and perhaps Fenerbache had a chance? No it was Madrid who carried on pressing and only the fine performance of Cojocaru in the home goal prevented a bigger defeat. Still plenty of time left in the group for us to turn this around but Madrid will be favourites to retain their youth cup win with the sheer talent available to them.
FENERBACHE 1 ATLETICO MADRID 2

Just 24 hours later Fenerbache on the back of a 3 game winless run in the league welcomed Lazio to the Sukru Saracoglu stadium and the line up for the home side was tweaked from previous weeks to give us a bit more solid platform in the middle of the pitch and our wingers pushed higher up field.
In truth the first half was poor, just the 1 decent chance aside for both teams who also shared a booking each, the players would surely be out to improve 2nd half? The 2nd was a slight improvement but still a poor show, Casilla making a couple decent stops from Biglia and Llorente to keep the game goalless. That’s how it was destined to finish until Fenerbache popped upm with their best move of the game with just minutes remaining on the clock, Potuk danced around a couple of tiring Lazio defenders before squaring to Sow who stroked the ball home from 15 yards. A late winner in a very even game, Both sides having the same amount of shots, shots on target and corners with the home side just shading the possession count. Was it down to the new tactics or not? Who knows, it will be a few weeks before we find out how good they are but hey a win is a win and we will take it.
FENERBACHE 1 SS LAZIO 0.
This result leaves Fenerbache 9th after 9 games with 14 points.

The only transfer deal happening at the minute see’s us allowing Raul Meireles leaving for Hamburg for £5m, the 32 year old was deemed surplus to requirements and the squad is needing to be re shaped.

So on to another weekend of fighting relegation with Newcastle in the Premier League and I would like to thank Tony Pulis and West Brom for being the most inept side I have seen at St James Park in the last few years, and I’ve witnessed a John Carver side for 5 months in that time. Taking nothing away from Newcastle, we played well. In keeping with recent home games(1 defeat in 6 at home now, and that being a last kick of the ball defeat by Everton) and I think we signed well in Jan, Shelvey is a great passer of the ball and Townsend looks decent, gets up and down and means we now attack both flanks rather than the one dimensional play previously. I was delighted to see Mitrovic get the goal, I like him a lot as a player and he has had some harsh words said about him but he will come through this hopefully as his all round game is quite good for a 21 year old. MOTM for me was Cheick Tiote, yeah remember him, who played like the tiote of 4 years ago, he has been linked with a move to China lately but after yesterday it would be idiotic to sell him. He provided the base to allow Shelvey to dictate the game from the middle and it was refreshing to see him get through 95 minutes without a yellow card.
In terms of what this does in terms of keeping us up who knows? We have Chelsea away next Saturday before an 18 day break before Stoke away(which I’m going to) so 2 tough games. We still have Bournemouth, Sunderland, Swansea, Palace to play at home, win them all and that’s us on 36 points..just shy of the magical 40 point mark.

On to the rest of the Premier league action and bloody hell…Leicester are for real aint they? coming out of Liverpool and Man City with 6 points and a +4 gd is major for them. Mahrez is a player, how he slipped under the radar for so long is a mystery. Arsenal were my fancy for the league and they got back to winning ways today at Bournemouth but I feel they have something lacking lately, goals have dried up and they don’t seem as on song with each other as they did early on in the season. Tottenham just keep winning and people still don’t believe them to be challengers but just 5 points off the top they gotta be in with a chance. Man City are far too reliant on Aguero and Silva and badly miss Kompany. Yaya seems to know he will be away at end of season and is hardly helping their cause atm. Costa rescued Chelsea with that late goal against Man United but what was Depay doing at the end before that goal? Surely cost his team 3 points. Liverpool blew a 2 goal lead to Sunderland(TWATS) but it was great to see their fans protest against ticket prices, something needs to be done. I am fully behind the twenty is plenty idea for away fans, these days an away match is a luxury many of us simply can’t do, I have had to cut my away days due to this. On average an away game costs me £125 at least(and bare in mind Newcastle are absolutely shite away from home) and with 3 kids I have money needed elsewhere, Stoke will actually be my 1st away game this season. Just before I go I see the next England manager in waiting(if you believe the southern press which keeps kissing his arse) has just went 8 without a win at Palace, yeah we could of told you’s all that would happen. The man always starts well at club but is then sussed out..West Ham..Southampton..Newcastle and now Palace.

Anyway thanks for reading my bollocks for this week. Issue 2 next week
