Napoli, find their level and halt slide

RAJKOVIC, Napoli’s player of the year with 12 league clean sheets
Phillips goes from strength to strength as mainstay in defence

Napoli drew with Zenit to record their 12th clean sheet of the season. Rajkovic, the italian Clubs player of the year waltzed off with 7 man of the matches to play a vital role in the clubs change in fortune. . Nathaniel Phillips and O’connell have been immense at centreback, as Napoli going into the final game of the season have division 3’s fourth best defence. At the other end of the pitch Willian’s goals and assist have been instrumental in the teams fight to stay up with the club comfortably in 14th. “On paper we looked nailed on for relegation before a ball was kicked, however we’ve more than held our own. We’ve beat the teams at the top in Villa, Galatasaray, Man Utd, Zagreb, Monchengladbach etc whilst continuing to rebuild the squad. We’ve already added a couple of players for next season as we look to kick on. Goals have been hard to come by, but with Costa joining today and Bamford a few weeks back, I think we have far more offensive options than ever before in my time here. There is one game to go against Basel, which we will be looking to win, to move up the table by a couple more places. You only have to look at the squads which have been relegated, to see how tough this league is. I feel we have some real options now, we’ve a top keeper in Rajkovic, and an able back up. We’ve some good young defenders who have potential to improve an impact the first 11. We’ve an experienced midfield, with again some good young players to come through. Whilst in attack i expect things to really come together next season, as competition for places hots up. I Joined Napoli as a team already relegated from Division 1, with all key assets sold. Life in division 2 was tough, we had no-one to trade and a team with division 4 quality. It was not a surprise we went down again. Going into this season, relegation looked inevitable again, with us lacking any quality. We’ve put a lot of work into trying to negotiate deals this season, taking in players we can trade again. Its worked quite well, and ahead of next season we have a decent core of players to improve on this season”
