Arsenal the firm favourites for the title, who amongst the chasing pack can challenge them.
Arsenal are 3 whole points better than any other team in division 2, anything other than the title wrapped up with 3 or 4 games to go shouldn’t be enough for them.
Other than in goal they lead in every category. Hellas and Espanyol are split by a hairs’ breadth. Epsanyol are more balanced, with better depth but Hellas are better in goal and up top. Ajax are a point further back mainly reliant on midfield they too are good in all positions. Any team down to 223 points could survive D1, so Levante and Leverkusen should feature at least in the playoff spots, in theory Leverkeusen are better equiped, since more possession and a decent keeper should be the key to success.
Monaco , Milan and Hertha will also be tough opposition for any team with a weaker keeper or defensive line.
The cut off for relegation last season was around 219 so this leaves a bunch of teams in trouble. Shaktar and Liege look certain to drop. Galatasaray may have a good enough back line and keeper to play out some draws and could well finish higher than Chievo who are much more vunerable where it counts.
Montpellier and Hoffenheim will hope to get off to a good early start if any of the teams below them over perform as they could fade as the season goes on.
