Group A and B have everything to play for. In each group 3 teams will progress to the Youth Cup with the bottom team progressing to the Youth Shield. Geona are already assured of Youth Shield football, yet can still determine the outcome of the group – with the higher you finish determining a more likely easier 2nd round. Group A is so close (Benfica are actually top) that only Benfica are assured of Youth Cup football – with any of the other 3 potentially winning the wooden spoon.

In group C and D – the top 2 in each group go to the Youth Cup and the bottom two progress to the Youth Shield. Presently in Group C this is quite tight with only Man City ensuring premier youth competition in the New Year. In group D Flamengo have ran away with it. Southampton are likely to join them with Napoli and Newcastle both set for Youth Shield football come January.

In group E and F – the group winners progress to the Youth Cup, with 2nd and 3rd in each group progressing to the Youth Shield. 4th place in both group will be eliminated and not play Youth Cup knock out football in the new year. As such Club Brugge have booked their place, with Dynamo Kiev having an outside chance of still progressing. River Plate are assured of Youth Shield football. In Group F Sevilla have also assured Youth Cup football with PSV and Sassuolo going to finish 2nd and 3rd. Liverpool are eliminated and cannot progress.

Group G and H are the same as E and F in terms of progressing. Therefore in both groups there is something to play for on the final gameday. Monchengladbach have secured progress to the Youth Cup, Lyon will be in the Youth Shield. Inter Milan if they win on the final day will progress if they win by 2 clear goals in Germany and will ensure Bremen crash out. As for Group H, AC Milan have won the group, Malaga will play Youth Shield football with Swansea knowing that a 2 goal win v Independiente on the final day will see them go through and ensure Independiente crash out.

In Group J and I only the top two progress – 1st place going to Youth Cup and 2nd place going to Youth Shield. Beskitas have won their group and Rubin Kazan have come 2nd meaning that group is sorted. In Group I meanwhile it is a little more complicated as West Ham v Tottenham is still to be organised – so how this group will finish is up in the air – although if Basel win at West Ham then no one else can catch them.

MASSIVE THANKS for so little rule breaking this season – has to be a record – so thanks all for taking the time to read and good luck next Saturday and in the upcoming knock outs – the draw for which has already been done and can be seen on the Youth Cup page.

Bascially where you finish will determine who you will play in the next round and so on.
