Inter Milan should dominate their Italian rivals in this division, with the strong German duo close behind.
Again , a quick note, none of this is my opinion or a reflection on any manager and their skill in making a team or running a team, just raw data crunched and spat out by excel.
It is always worth looking at the division above when considering , who could and who should be promoted.
You will need around 89.4 to survive in D1. So realistically only the top 5 have what it takes, the rest if they get promoted , will in all probability get relegated again.
That being said D2 is a slightly wilder place than D1 and there is always a bigger variation in results.
Inter are solid 90 throughout, only Southampton can match that, but they have much less strength in depth. Dortmund and Leverkeusen lay either side of their Portuguese rivals in Benfica, who can put out a stronger starting 11 if needed but lack in depth also.
Genoa have a potent attack and the alternative rating system shows them pushing for the playoff spot.
Recall that with a SD of around 6 any team down to Lazio could push for a playoff spot and any team up to Schalke are at risk of relegation.
The stats show that CSKA, Sassuolo and Athletic club making the return journey to D3 quicker than they would have liked. Only Sampdoria from the promoted quartet seem to have a good enough squad to survive. Fenerbache who survived on goal difference last season may not be so lucky this year.
It seems to be getting harder and harder each year to survive in D2 with 46 points needed last season.

Barcelona should top the table, Juve to grab 2nd. Plus new experimental prediction.
Barcelona have the stongest starting selection but as last season lack depth which ultimately cost them the title. Juve and Bayern are closely matched. Chelsea also adopt the Barca approach of strength but less depth.
Ultimately the standard deviation approach suggests that no team lower than PSG have any realistic hope for the title.
PSG and Real Madrid will be looking for a rapid increase in keeper rating and thus may finish much higher than suggested.
At the other end , it could be a season of suffering for the promoted Villareal , Sunderland and Wolfsburg. Ajax who narrowly avoided relegation are once again in the lowest 4 at the moment.
Any team up to Napoli must consider themselves relegation possibles , teams above Man City should be safe.
The last 2 columns on the table are a rating system based on the relative effect of GK, Def, Mid, ATT , Top18 . This was calculated looking at the difference between predicted and real positions last year.
There isn't that much difference. It does suggest Bayern are much closer to Barca than otherwise predicted ETOt is the rating calculation, which I'm not going to explain yet , as it needs tweeking and may have to be done division by division. EPr is the experimental prediction.

SC Internacional Season 5 run-down and Season 6 preview
SC Internacional Season 5 Run-down and Season 6 Preview
The club’s chairman offered only the demand that they avoid relegation, inferring that a top 10 finish was not expected.
Top100’s resident Stats and Facts Analyst predicted Internacional to be relegated and finish 18th. While myself as manager taking all things into account predicted a 13th place finish, anticipating a 2nd season struggle but to still comfortably avoid the drop. So let’s see how it went…
The Season
The team got off to a very respectable start to the campaign with 4 wins, 3 draws and 1 defeat from our first 8 games that saw us flying high near the top of the table. Notable 3-2 and 4-3 victories over Southampton and Benfica respectively showed we could compete with the heavyweights of the league and it showed we could score. Alassane Pléa and Edin Višća scored some important goals and proved to be a potent attacking duo, contributing to some promising early season form.
As most managers have at some time experienced, you should never rely on good form, and for no reason at all results will swing in the opposite direction. Sure enough came a winless streak of 9 games, including 2 lots of 2 consecutive defeats to Leverkusen and Genoa, and then Fenerbahçe and Sporting CP. This sent us plummeting down to the bottom half amongst a tight battle with play-off hopefuls and survival clubs.

Despite a couple of changes mid-season with the captures of Luisão, Cheikhou Kouyaté and Ryad Boudebouz we still couldn't find the form or consistency that guided Internacional to 10th place last season.
If nothing better, a temporary upturn in fortunes followed with a 5-0 thumping over struggling Southampton to complete the double, with Pléa bagging 4 goals - this was the highlight of our season.
More stuttering form pursued throughout June with 3 wins, 2 draws and 3 defeats, still better than no wins at all. A notable 2-1 over title hopefuls Internazionale and a 2-0 win over an in-form Sunderland were the big positives from the month.
July started off quite well with a hard fought win over a strong Leverkusen, a thrilling 3-3 drawwdraw with Genoa and 3 points against Lyon, culminating in a 5 game unbeaten run - a season best. July continued with inter-changeable results of wins and losses, including a 2nd double loss of the season against Fenerbahçe and Sporting CP (who seem to be our bogey teams), between 2 important wins over Wolfsburg and Fiorentina which guaranteed our survival in a close bottom half.
Our end of season run-in finished in style with a vengeful 3-1 victory over relegated Spatak Moscow to hoist SC Internacional up to a Top100 best finish of 9th in Division 2.

The assist tally for the team is shown here. Pléa was nearly as good at setting up goals as he was scoring them. His average match rating was 7.39, higher than any other player. He's definitely earned his Player of the Season award.

Mid season risers
In my last post on the blog I predicted the rises of the Bundesliga contingent of Willi Orban, Marcel Sabitzer, Alessandro Schöpf and Yussuf Poulsen all from 87 to 88. Gladly all of them came in for Internacional! This immediately strengthened the team all round and statistically changed them from relegation candidates to mid-tablers. It took a while to find the right line-up but form started to improve.
Internacional's star player Alassane Pléa rose from 88 to 89 to give us a stronger centre forward and a player rated worthy of topping the scoring charts.
Mikel San José got a surprise rise from 89 to 90 to further strengthen our central midfield.
Our born and raised goalkeeper Becker Alisson also got a shock rise from 88 to 89 to give our team a great advantage over many of the division's others.
Finally, Japanese forward Yuya Kubo got a deserved, albeit unexpected rise from 85 to 87. This gave the team a good fall back option in attacking positions and a great young asset in their ranks.

Players to Watch
Who stands the best chance of rising before the end of Season 6 ? Here's my predictions:
Willi Orban - D(RC) - 88>89
The centre back and club captain of Leipzig was a starter for their entire 2nd place maiden Bundesliga campaign, and will be playing Champions League football this season. Assuming Leipzig do 80% as well as last season he's looking at a rise. I'm fending off bids for him left right and centre.
Marcel Sabitzer - AM,F(RLC) - 88>89
Same as Orban above, Sabitzer was a regular for the Bundesliga runners-up in the 2nd striker role. With the UCL and another league season to build on his abilities, as well as being a fully fledged Austria international, he should get a +1.
Emerson Palmieri - D,DM,M(L) - 88>89 - As stated before, he's a starter for Roma and he rose from 82 to 88 in his first season as he helped them finish 2nd in Serie A. If he carries on performing he's bound to rise further and should cement his position as first choice left back both from Roma and for us for many seasons to come, (unless Frank Hirst tries to recruit him to his Italian army at Genoa!)

Next Season?
Despite a tiring season of ups and downs with no continuity whatsoever, we have managed to exceed my own expectations and certainly our less ambitious chairman's too. My predicted 13th place finish in season 5 turned out to be an actual 9th place.
We have a good group of young players with good potential, with many other managers eyeing up targets. A lot of our players have risen this season and should show similar form in real life to last season, potentially earning further rises as previously mentioned.
With those factors in mind, plus the increasing difficulty of Division 2 and the improvement of other teams in the Division, I can see it being another difficult season.
However in some aspects I expect us to do better, for example, we need to win more games at home and we must put some kind of streak together at some point.
My personal aim would be to make the playoffs as a best case scenario, but I would hope to not have relegation worries and finish no lower than 11th realistically. I hope we can find a formation and tactical approach that generally works, as I feel experimentation during the season always causes a dip in form.
If i can find that then i feel we have a great group of young players to go far and with a bit of luck we can establish ourselves as promotion hopefuls rather than relegation candidates.

Value added, how varied are the 5 divisions.
What does standard deviation show.
For the less mathematically incline the standard deviation is a way of measuring the average difference from the mean, with big differences counting slightly more.
Around 70% of teams will finish within 1SD of their finishing position , 95% of teams should finish within 2sd.
So lets say your predicted position was 10th, and the SD was 3
There would be a 70% chance of you finishing between 7 and 13 and a 95% chance you will finish between 4th - 16th, i.e. there is very little chance you should gain automatic relegation or promotion.
So looking at each division
Division 1: +/- 3.0
Division 2: +/- 6.6
Division 3: +/- 7.8
Division 4: +/- 7.0
Division 5: +/- 5.8
So what does this mean. Division 1 and Division 5 are the less varied in terms of performance. For example if you are ranked 20th the chance is you will finish no higher than 17th and definitely no higher than 14th no matter what you do.
Why is this, well over 5 seasons the cream has risen to the top and the other stuff has stayed or sunk to it's true level.
Division 3 remains the melting pot for the top 100, better teams going up, worse teams going down, but hope for all.
The 8th placed team could well finish top in D3 ,the 20th placed team could finish 4th..
There is a strong arguement to use the standard deviation to work out true value added across all 5 divisions. This perhaps put the relative performances of Napoli and Juventus in D1 into true perspective.

The curse of the VA strikes again as the best VA team Flamengo fail in the playoffs. Great performance by Hertha Berlin and Malaga.
Moving from play off contenders to league winners bodes well for Hertha Berlin next season, Malaga pulled off a similar trick to finish second and 2nd in PVA. Flamengo top at VA and 3rd at PVA failed to make the final push .
A good year also for WBA with a high VA of +7
Levante gained that promotion spot , yet have a very low VA and PVA, will this cause them problems next season?
Ok so no relegation but -11 VA for Torino and - 10 for river plate , see them with the lowest VA and PVA. Independiente with -5 VA finish 18th, with play off contenders Cologne having a worse -7 VA

Perhaps some controversial positions here. Hoffenheim top the table , ahead of run away winners Celtic.
There are definite similarities with D3 here, with the exeception of Celtic who ran away with the league in most respects.
However Hoffenheim over came 5 potentially better sides to come 2nd and only 1pt short of Celtic in the end, so perhaps they should top the PVA table. Chievo likewise move from 12th to 3rd and also gain promotion. Like D3 the team with the best VA failed to gain promotion from the playoffs , leaving Dynamo Kiev in D4 for another season.
Dyanmo Moscow on +9 VA another great achievement,.
AS Monaco are worse for VA, PVA and quite rightly relegated to D5, Olympiacos who failed in the playoff in 7th got the 2nd lowest PVA, Udinese on -11 VA also got relegated.

A don't think it is a shock to see CSKA top for PVA , narrowly ahead of Athletic club and Sampdoria who were also promoted. Top raw VA went to Lokomotive ,who fell at the last hurdle. Notable performances by Besitkas, Galatasary and Marseille , keeping themselves out of harms way and with a small injection of talent heading in the right direction next season.
At the wrong end PSV get the lowest PVA, top side finishes 11th, narrownly above predicted 2nd who came 16th Shaktar and the most inept performance was Leicester who predicted 3rd got -16VA and were then relegated. Boca who should have challenged for the play off also got -10VA.

Bayern Munich - The Next Chapter
CLUB STATEMENT
Wednesday 9th August, 2017 saw the appointment of ruts66 at Bayern Munich after a brief spell of gardening leave following his departure from Celtic FC. He wishes to put on record his gratitude to the board, staff, players and fans following his successful tenure at Parkhead which resulted in the club moving from Division 5 to Division 3. He would also like to convey his message of best wishes and good luck to his successor, Sir Kevin Wallace.
The role of manager of the current Division 1 League Champions will present ruts66 with a considerable challenge in maintaining the club's current status amongst the elite group within T100. The Bayern board, however, have every confidence in his appointment and ability to carry on the sterling work of predecessor, Gursimran Brar, who has taken on a very different sort of challenge with RSC Anderlecht in Division 5. Again, everyone associated with Bayern wishes to express their gratitude to Gursimran for the success and joy he has brought to The Allianz Arena.
Work has already begun on some minor re-balancing of the senior playing staff but the nucleus of the side will largely remain intact. Likewise, the youth team will alter little for the forthcoming season unless material gains can be made to the senior side through carefully considered transfer activity.
We look forward to next season in anticipation and expectation of continued success.
Hertha Berlin Season 5 Review
With season 5 done and dusted Hertha Berlin manager Mark Stewart gives SMTOP100blogspot an overview of the successful season
After the disappointment of failing in the play offs for the second time under Stewart in season 4, fans of Die Alte Dame were hoping for new faces to be brought in, in the hope that Berlin could challenge again.
Stewart did scour the market during the close season but come Match day 1 - not one squad player was brought in. This led to murmurs of discontent in the streets of Berlin with many claiming Stewart had been spending to much time spotting trams and had lost his marbles.
However the man from Cardiff had been working hard in training and trying new formations in friendlies. He stated “I was confident with my side come the start of the season. I had moved Andrea Poli from Right Back to Centre Midfield during the pre season friendlies and that gave the side a more balanced look. This was coupled with the emergence of early Stewart buys Jose Gomez and Dario Benedetto gaining plus 2 rating rises from 85 -87 respectively. “This solved the Right Back problem with Gomez making the position his own and Benedetto having a decent season as a replacement for Ben Yedder and Muriel”.
On the opening day of the season Berlin competently brushed a resurgent Bremen aside 2-0. They carried on the style going on a club record 11 match unbeaten run, which also led his side to the top of the table. A position they would occupy for the next 27 games.
After losing for the first time Match Day 12 Stewart realised maybe a little more strength in depth was needed. He scoured the transfer market and brought in Tranbzonspor winger Volkan Sen for £6m plus Lee Jones and Gabriel Silva from Marseille for £7m plus youth striker Fred Friday.
Sen went on to play a pivotal part as an impact player, taking part in 25 games - 13 of which were substitute appearances. He netted a massively important 8 goals, most of which were late on at crucial times.
Silva made the left Back spot his own, settling in seamlessly - offering pace and reliability on the left hand side
“I now felt my squad was complete and we were playing with gusto, attacking as a unit and defending like tigers”. From that first defeat at home to Montpellier the Germans went on to only lose a further three times all season.
“I think I realised we had the title when later in the season and up against Montpellier - who incidentally had ended our record unbeaten run we faced the prospect of 9 first team regulars missing through suspension or injury. Many other sides may have crumbled but not Berlin, Stewart trusted his squad players and rather than go ultra defensive as he had initially planned he decided to go for it playing an attacking formation. This worked a treat as the patched up side won a thriller 4-3.
During Berlins run Malaga had embarked on a colossal unbeaten run but The German’s were not fazed as they themselves broke the club record for unbeaten league run for the second time in the same season recording the final 12 games without defeat and lift the Division 5 title.
This sparked wild scenes of celebrations with the fans and they partied day and night proclaiming Stewart the greatest manager in the clubs history. However little did they know that current Youth Cup Champions and Division One side Valencia had slapped a name your price contract on the table for the in demand manager.
The Future
So now Stewart has declared his intent to stay what does the future hold for Die Alte Dame? We are now in the close season and no transfer activity has taken place yet.
Stewart said “Of course I’m in the market, but lets get this straight. I wont make transfers for the sake of it, if a player cant improve my side without upsetting the balance, then obviously I wont bring them in” The boys I have here have proven their worth with a title - it may be the lowest divsion but its still a great achievement against a host of other experienced top managers and they deserve a chance to shine at a higher level without being broken up”
The Players
We take a look at some of the shining stars of the season and who are the future main players of Berlin.
Wissam Ben Yedder - Mr Berlin himself, a great season playing unselfishly in working hard for the team. Once again he recorded the highest average rating in the squad and chipped in with 13 league goals. He can definitely shine in higher divsions
Luis Muriel - Has found his place as the central attacking midfielder in the side. Didnt chip in with to many goals but his unselfish play and high average ratings made him a key component of the side. Dont let Muriels lack of goals distort your thinking, the guy is a class striker but the balance works well with him playing just behind Ben Yedder and he will continue to play well in higher divsions
Vladimir Darida - Central Midfield lynchpin and free kick taker. The diminutive Czech chipped in with 9 goals all from free kicks last year. His unlimited energy and vision for a killer pass demonstrate the importance to the team
John Terry - Serial Shagger and general twat Terry was seen wearing a Chievo Verona and Celtic kit after their respective promotions. He may be a prick but he totally held the defence together last year and will continue to do so next year
Fringe Players
Alfie Mawson - The young central defender is the heir to Terry’s throne. If he continues his real life form a ratings rise from 85 will surely happen soon and when it does he will be seeing game time. I see the lad as a future England star so it would take a special bid for me to even consider parting with him
Florian Lejeuene - Will step in for Wes Morgan at centre back when his inevitable ratings rise comes. He had a fantastic season for Eibar in real life last season and similar perfrmances for Newcastle will surely see him rise soon
Walter Gargano - Now 32 years old but still continues to be an animal in the centre of the park when called upon, he will feature mainly from the bench next season and having chipped in with greta performances this season I expect the same for season 6
Aaron Mooy - The Aussie midfielder has it all. He can pass has a great shot, boundless energy and is great in the tackle, having won the Championship player of the year for Huddersfield last season I am confident he will raise in ratings this season by surprising premier league sides with his quality.
Conclusion
All in all you cant ask for much more in a season we won the league with style, we attacked throughout, we scored goals, we hardly conceded. The stat’s dont lie as the table above shows.
We have had a taste of success and want more. There is no reason why we cant challenge next season.
When drawn on his long term future Stewart stated “I’ll take each season as it comes, I have a desire to test myself at the top and we will see what happens after next season”. So will the mercurial, personable Cardiffian stay? Only time will tell - keep your eyes on season 6 and all will surely be revealed….

The rivalry and hatred between Beddows and the Dinosaur spans millions of years - and Beddows still WILL NOT pick ANY ITALIAN player playing for a Mister Malcolm managed side!
“Players who play for the dinosaur for me are extinct from international duty - I cannot possibly call up players who no longer exist!"
The squad was as in the previous 3 world cups full of AC Milan players.
Some Interista journalists then questioned why there were no Inter players in the Italy squad - abusing Beddows verbally with insults as being biased, selfish and of holding a grudge even… when the insults had finished Beddows answered…
“If they were any Italian players at Inter then I would most certainly call them up if they were good enough but unfortunately there are as many Paraguyans in the Inter team that Alex Mcclean speaks Italian words!"
Beddows then refused to admit if there were Italians at Inter if he would pick them or not.
One notable inclusion which has baffled some fans is Angelo Ogbonna - with the only explanation being that he is about to move to AC Milan - hence his inclusion!
The King of Iberia
For a long time, thanks to his hugely successful time at Levante, where he achieved one relegation, two mid table finishes, and almost made the play offs, Tom Parfitt has been widely considered the best manager in Spain.
Mid way through this season however, he cut his ties with the Spanish side and moved to Benfica. During his half season in charge, he managed to almost make the play offs, and as a direct result of this success, is now considered not just the best manager in Spain, but also the best manager on the whole of the Iberian peninsula. The man himself though was very modest when asked about it all. Taking a leaf out of the Brian Clough book of self deprecation, Parfitt stated that he probably isn’t the best manager in Spain & Portugal, but he’s certainly in the top one.
Not only did he almost make the play offs with Benfica, his former side Levante achieved promotion. Parfitt takes the credit for this with the foundations he laid at the club over the previous four seasons. The great man himself was this morning basking in the glory of his achievements. Asked to sum up his season, the modest manager said this.
“Almost making the div 2 playoffs, youth shield quarter final run, and winning the div 5 playoffs. If Carlsberg did football managers"
When asked to give a little more, Parfitt said
"Looking at the second half of the season, and what's happened here at Benfica, I think we've managed to bring in a little more experience without taking away from the quality of the side. Bringing in Timo Werner was also a massive coup, I was delighted with that.
As for next season, the aim really has to be promotion. Obviously we want automatics, but the play offs would be equally acceptable. It will be a hard division, although having Beddows in there gives everybody 6 points next season.
Do I see him as a rival in the same vein as I did PMW during the division 5 days? Not really. To say that he's a rival would imply that I think he's of a similar standard. Relegated twice with Milan would say otherwise.
I think if we can finish above the other Milan side, we wont be too far away. I'd expect Dortmund to be in the mix too, but hopefully we'll have enough about is to be right in the mix.
Whether there will be many more changes to the squad or not is yet to be seen. We have a deal agreed with West Brom for a couple of youth lads, but in terms of first team changes, nothing is planned. We've spoken to a few managers about a few players, but nothing is agreed anywhere at the moment.
The most important thing though is to keep a hold of Mbappe. He's a tremendous asset, and wont be going anywhere at the moment.
While I've been here, probably the stand out result was beating Atletico Madrid 3 – 2, and the most disappointing would be losing to Leverkusen on the penultimate day. That was where we lost the play off spot, although Sunderland having one chalked off against Genoa on the final day also went against us. Funny that Franks side benefitted from that decision, but there we are."
A.S. Roma announce Chisholm
Sitting at the head of the table looking out to the awaiting media. Chisholm looked calm and composed with the media attention this out of the blue announcement had generated. The opening gambit was from Spanish media, questioning what had changed in the 48 hours following the statement of intent to remain at Celta Vigo.
Chisholm was honest in his approach, “When the Head Coach has a different idea to the direction of the team to that of the owner the job is much harder to enjoy”. Transfer policy has been speculated with Chisholm keen to bring youthfulness into the team and produce a tam that could develop over the next few seasons but the owner wanted different. Chisholm looks back fondly at Celta Vigo and his time in Spain which didn’t get off to the best of starts with relegation to Division 5. “The team needed a revamp and that’s what I did in D5, Players that wanted to play for The name on the front of the jersey turned the clubs fortunes around” Despite falling short with a defeat in the D4 Play-off final Chisholm was proud of the clubs effort of the past 2 seasons and hopes the club can continue to move forward. There are many good youngsters left behind who with the right guidance will have every chance of breaking into the first team in the future. “That;s one area I am proud of, the youth team has masses mof potential if they keep working hard on the training ground."
When the discussion turned to the new era at A.S. Roma, Chisholm was bullish in his team and plans. He knows it won’t be easy but feels that on paper the squad should be higher than fourth from bottom. But as everyone knows, You finish where you deserve to finish with Chisholm keen to bring pride back to the Stadio Olimpico. “Good players are here, and with a few additions in the right areas I believe we can aim to push for much better that where we were last season. It’s a clean slate for all at the club, Who stands out in training over pre-season, lets wait and see!” Double sessions will be utilised to ensure peak fitness of all players is met come the opening game of the season.
Chisholm left with one final line. “It’s a shame Milan went down as I would have loved to have beat them on their turf and silence Beddow’s claims of having a hand in any success I have had so far on this journey”.
Levante: Reports of an Incredible season.
After 3 seasons, Levante manages to return in Division 4, winning a thrilling play-off final against Espanyol (2-3, Modestè(E) 19', 48'; Rodriguez 15', Veloso 54', Nilmar 75').
At the end of the match, a drunk Saviano commented: “it’s an huge satisfaction, which comes after 2 months of hard work”. Then he ran away, maybe to continue the celebrations, more probably to throw up.
Saviano arrived in the right side of Valencia when Tom Parfitt moved to Lisbon to manage Benfica on 23rd May. During the first week, he brought 16 new players (Semedo, Hendrick and Balic amongst the others), with some Parfitt’s loyalists, as Gervinho, Vives, Ralf and Sessegnon, moving away.

Sunderland Manager Speaks to the Press
This evening after the greatest result in the history of Sunderland football club Mr Wayne Bullough spoke about his impending move to Liverpool and denied that he had been tapped up!

"All good things must come to an end.After 18 months in charge over 3 and a half season's it's time to say thank you and goodbye to everyone at Sunderland.When I took over midway through season 2 the club were near the bottom of division 2 with an ageing team low on confidence.After a massive overhaul of the squad bringing in many younger players we were unfortunately relegated. After a season of consolidation we achieved consecutive promotions from Division 3 and Division 2 winning the playoff final in both season's.I leave the club in Division 1 for the first time and wish the club and the new manager every success in the future."

Taylor Aims To Return Lyon To Better Times
Having saved Lyon from almost certain relegation in season 4, things were looking good after Game 10 with Lyon sitting 2nd in Div 2, what happened next is un-explainable but Lyon plummeted to the bottom of Div 2 and found themselves relegated to Div 3, Taylor was removed from his position but was welcomed back less than 24hrs later when a move to England looked to be Niall Taylors next move, Niall signed on with a 1 year contract with a chance of a 2 year option if Lyon return to div 2.
Since his fast return Taylor has been busy on the phone with agents looking to revitalise a squad, Out has went Fans favourite and Club Captain Mathieu Valbuena with Russian International Roman Neustadter & Turkish U21 International Orkan Cinar making the move to France " With Wesley Sneidjer already on his way and the chance to sign a commanding defender something we have been missing, I felt the time was right to let Mathieu leave, Mathieu has been a great servant and the star man in my season and a half here, hopefully he can inspire an Udinese side under new management.
Also arriving in France again from Udinese is Dutch Winger Luciano Narsingh " we lacked pace last season and with Rachid Ghezzal a later arribal last season I feel along with Luciano we will cause teams problem now.
Taylor has been linked with several names and no doubt will be linked with several more in his bid to return Lyon to Div 2, One player who wont be leaving is Cédric Bakambu who this afternoon signed a new 2 year deal, " I’m delighted that Cedric has decided to stay on a help us fight for promotion, he has had various offers to move on, but after hours of talks he signed on the line"

+15 PVA and +14 VA, a fantastic performance by Villareal. This somewhat eclipses the +10 VA of Sunderland , +9 VA of Internacional and + 7 of Genoa.
Just goes to show the manager makes the differences, at least in division 2. Interestingly it is Genoa and Sunderland and not the more favoured Inter and Wolfsburg who made it to the playoff.
Southampton who should have easily got into the playoffs but finished 11th get the wooden spoon, Sevilla and Schalke sit just above them , with relegated Sevilla actually having the worse VA.
Upto you to decide is it worse coming 11th when you should have been promoted or coming 20th when you should have come 11th. However since only 6 points seperated 17th to 10th , we can conclude the it is the former rather than the after.

Division 2 Playoff Final Preview
Tonight, Genoa & Sunderland meet at Napoli’s San Paolo for a place amongst the Elite of Division 1…
and many T100 Managers have called it an outrage that Genoa have basically been handed a home tie in the playoff final and are calling for change at the T100FA.
Genoa met Sunderland in Gameweek 38 and got the draw that cemented their place in the playoff (lottery), after a 2-2 draw at the Stadium of Light.
With fitness levels an issue, none of the players who defeated Inter Milan in the semi final will start for Genoa tonight, with Coach Hirst choosing to field an all Italian 11 for 2nd time in less than a week. Andrea Belotti returns to lead the line, being supported by Domenico Berardi + debutants, Politano & Orsolini.
Sunderland have plenty to choose from in terms of fitness, with Rondon, Khaceridi, Pieters, Cabella, Visca, Zapata & Kurtic all 100% fit for tonight’s match.
The Black Cats will have the advantage of having won a playoff final last season after winning the Division 3 playoff final and having better strength in depth, but key players like Belotti & Marchisio from the bench will be a big boost for il Grifone.
Genoa will be hoping to follow in Villarreal’s footsteps of making from Division 4 when T100 was inaugurated right upto Division 1 in only 5 seasons, but without the relegation that the Yellow Submarines had in Season 1 ;)
Rumour has it that Liverpool FC Owner, John Henry has flown out to Naples and will be offering a contract to the winner of tonights Division 2 Playoff Final…
