Match Day 38 - The Final Countdown
Well we’re coming up to the last game of a fascinating season and so many issues have come right down to the wire so here’s a look at the final day possible movers, shakers and heartbreakers.
Division 1
Champions – Barcelona
Champions Cup Qualifiers – Barcelona, Bayern, Real & Juventus
I stand to be corrected but my understanding is Man U will also qualify if they beat Bayern in the final and Porto will qualify if Bayern win.
Champions Shield Qualifiers – Porto, Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, Atletico
Fenerbahce will definitely qualify if they gain a point , whilst if they lose both Fiorentina and Man City could catch them mathematically their goal difference deficit is such that they would have to break all known T100 scoring records.
Again don’t quote me but as either Man U or Porto are expected to be promoted to the Champions Cup it could create an extra place in the Shield which will go to either Man City or Fiorentina if they fail to pull of the miracle of sneaking past Fenerbahce and to add further uncertainty a the team not qualifying through this route could join them if Chelseas win the SMFA Shield.
Not forgetting Stuttgart from Div 5 who will have qualified through their Top100 Shield win.
Confused, so am I.
The two are tied on points with Fiorentina having a 6 goal advantage in goal difference, City host Barca whilst Fiorentina are away to Juve.
On to the bottom end which is far more straight forward.
Relegated – Sevilla, Lyon and Milan.
In the frame to possibly join them are Lazio 36pts, Inter 37pts, Liverpool 38pts and outsiders Leverkusen 39pts.
A point for Lazio away to Man Utd would be enough for them to call clear if Inter fail to win away at Porto, if Lazio and Inter manage to win then Liverpool would be down if they fail to win at home to Madrid, meanwhile Leverkusen only need a point away to Milan to assure their safety but are unlikely to see all 3 clubs below them win and overhaul them.
Division 2
Promoted – Dortmund, Napoli and Schalke.
The Champions have yet to be crowned, Dortmund need a win away to Monchengladbach whilst Napoli need the Germans to fail to register 3pts whilst winning themselves at home to Boca.
Play-Offs – Only PSG have a guaranteed place due to the last day fixtures. The remaining berths being between Wolfsburg 62pts, Roma 61pts, Everton 61pts, Spartak 60pts and Newcastle 60pts who are all in the frame.
The critical game here on the last day will be Wolfsburg v Spartak, a win for either club secure their spot whilst a draw would see the Germans guaranteed a place.
Roma and Everton need wins away to St-Etienne and Galatasary respectively, whilst Newcastle must rely on Roma and Everton failing to win and Spartak getting no more than a point whilst they themselves win at home to Sporting.
At the foot of the table.
Relegated – Athletic Club, Galatasaray and Sunderlan.
The last place on the trap door is between St-Etienne and Sporting. St-Etienne must win at home to Roma and hope Sporting lose away to Newcastle, if the Portuguese side draw the Frenchmen must win by 5 clear goals.
Division 3
Promoted – CSKA and Basel.
Ajax are all but there unless an 8 goal deficit in goal difference can be overturned by Villa. Ajax face Lille away whilst Villa are away to Palace.
The race to be Champions is still a 3 way race, CSKA must win away to Swansea to secure the title, if they fail to do so and Basel secure 3pts away to Sassuolo then the title goes to them, if both fail to win then Ajax could sneak through the back door if they win at Palace, but it would have to be by 5 clear goals if CSKA manage a draw.
Play-Offs – Villa are guaranteed their place in the dust off, whilst the other 3 places are to be slugged out between Marseille, Leicester, Shakhtar, PSV and Bordeaux.
Relegated – Sampdoria and Sassuolo
In the basement battle to avoid sliding into Div 4 it looks certain that Lille will drop unless they win, Hamburg fail to gain a point, Hoffenheim lose and the Frenchmen overturn a 15 goal deficit.
Hamburg on the other hand have their destiny in their own hands, a win for them at home to Monaco will see them leapfrog the visitors.
Hoffenheim need to win at home to Marseille to be sure of avoiding the drop whilst Palace require a point at home to Villa to ensure safety.
Monaco as mentioned need to avoid defeat at Hamburg in what is arguably the divisions fixture of the season.
Division 4
Promoted – Southampton
The Saints can secure the title with victory in the match of the day away to Internacional whilst the Brazilians will secure promotion and possibly the title if they win.
Malaga will book their place in Div 3 with a win at home to Cologne and would be Champions if Internacional v Southampton ends up a draw or if Internacional win but by 1 goal less than the Spaniards due to their goals scored record.
Genoa could go up if they win at home to Udinese and Southampton either win or draw, a win would also see them pop the champagne if Malaga lose or draw.
Play-Offs – One from Internacional, Malaga, and Genoa will tussle it out with Udinese and Torino.
Atalanta will join them if they avoid defeat at AZ whilst the Dutch side will take the spot with a victory, another crucial fixture for sure.
Relegated – Celta Vigo, West Brom and Levante
To avoid joining them Espanyol must win at home to Torino whilst relying on Hellas failing to win at home to West Ham, a draw wouldn't be good enough for the Italians if the Spaniards win with their superior goal difference.
Division 5
Champions – Villareal
Promoted – Feyenoord and Stuttgart
Play-Offs – Hertha, Sao Paulo, Santos and Celtic
Augsburg are confirmed as the wooden spoon winners, to avoid finishing a fated second from bottom Bremen need a win at home to Rubin Kazan whilst relying on Twente losing, a point for the Belgians sees them clear.

THEY SAY ITS TOUGH AT THE TOP BUT I SAY ITS TOUGHER TO BEAT THE DROP. FINAL DAY POSITIONS
So it’s the final day of the season. In Division 1 Broon’s Fannybashers, bashed some Fannies near the end of the season and seem to have safely/not safely secured a Europa league spot.
So… Where are we with all the other teams? From the top down; Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Juventus have all secured Champions league next season. Congratulations for winning the league Scott.
Porto, Man Utd Chelsea, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and Fenerbahce (more than likely) have all secured their Europa league spots which leaves the rest…
After the Europa League spots we have Fiorentina and Man city respectively, both on 44 points with Fiorentina having a six plus goal advantage which would be difficult for Man city to go any higher in the table after tonight’s game if both teams win. But still a higher place up from grabs if someone losses – Fiorentina play Juventus in an all Italian affair so my money is on Man City - but again you never know.
The bottom of the league is tighter than pushing a watermelon out of your arse hole. 4 teams, YES 4 teams can still go down with three already been relegated. Leverkusen need a draw and they guarantee top flight football for next season. Then Liverpool & Inter both need a WIN to secure their own future in Division 1, if they two slip up then it will mean Lazio have a chance to creep out of the relegation zone. Have alook at the table below as to how tight it is.
A.C. Milan are relegated to the 2nd tier in Top 100 but I believe the current manager, Steve is keeping his job due to being a fans favourite, and the Milan board are sure he will be the man to get them back into the top flight next season after a long debate, but that may change.
Lyon are also relegated into division two but it was a tough ask for the Lyon manager to keep them up with the last managers poor attitude towards, well pretty much everything, but thankfully there is a good manager there in Warren to make Lyon a force again, whether the current boss will still be there next season is anyone’s guess as we know managers like change as much as players sometimes.

EUROPE HERE WE COME
Well Well Well... Top 100 results could not have went any better for the Fannybashers last night. Fiorentina, Man City and Fenerbahce were all on 44 points and only Separated by goal difference before Sundays game, leaving everything hanging in the balance for the last Europa League spot between the three clubs in the last couple of games in the season. Fiorentina were facing a Sevilla side who have had, which can only be described as a miserable season, they are currently relegated and sit bottom. Somehow Sevilla came away with a 2-1 victory against all the odds. We were playing Man City, and Ribery thought it would be a good idea to wreak havoc against his recent former employer by bagging 2 goals. Although Callejon, a former Fannybasher himself a few weeks ago did get an assist against his former club too. He was involved in the swap deal that brought Ribery to the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in the first place.
Fenerbahce have squeezed into the last spot available for Europa League football, which is massive to our club in keeping all the players happy with playing time. The stature of the club gains a boost too as everyone knows this is a tough league with some outstanding managers.
There is still a chance for Fiorentina to get European football, but the goal difference suggests that Fenerbahce have indeed sealed there place by having plus 8 goals, stranger things have happened, yes, but La Viola play Juventus in there next game who have beaten them on both occasions, so we remain confident. Up next for us is the mighty Munich who clearly have the ability to put a few goals past us but we are a tight unit and don't shift too many goals. We are looking forward to that game and will try our best to win.
Since Scott took charge at Fenerbahce he has lost 8, drawn 5 and won 5... Browns form since his arrival is below.
The Fenerbahce board had a meeting with him tonight mentioning that it was a shaky start but we can see since you brought the players in to suit your style of play, there has been an improvement by losing only 1 game out of the last 8.

The Fictional Extra Time Debate
Fictional extra time of course came about in Season 2 of Top 100 in order to provide a means of finding a fair winner in cup fixtures within such tournaments as the Top 100 Youth Cup & the Top 100 World Championship whereby arranging additional fixtures / replays was not feasible due to time available to complete the competitions within the 38 game week season.
Recently brought up by Broon, the debate now is the method of deciding victors in games drawn in future competitions in the knockout stages of those competitions.
There are currently 2 ideas suggested for deciding these games;
1: Average Rating Totals
Using the recent Top 100 Youth Cup final 2nd leg game as an example to explain this you have a game that was drawn 3-3. If this were a 1 leg match the average rating totals would have scored as follows;
Lokomotiv Moscow score 70 from the first 11 meaning that in total Juventus would be awarded the game based on the ‘better performance’ of their starting 11 players.
The pros here are as the above point suggests, the first 11 of Juventus scored higher as a whole despite drawing the game & ‘performed better’ however the cons are that Juventus had K.Coman sent off after 58 minutes meaning his rating was not scored over 90 minutes & neither were the subs. Additionally some players leave the field of play later or sooner than others & therefore it is not a completely fair contest.
2: Match Stat Criteria
The method adapted in season 2 where by an odd number of criteria were suggested as providing random but fair means of deciding a winner of the game.
Again using the same match as was used in the above example for Average Rating Totals we have the match stats from that game;
The 3 areas chosen to find a winner were; First Goal, Most Possession & Most Shots on Target. In this match example the score would be 2-1 to Juventus in extra time due to Lokomotiv’s first goal (1st minute), Juventus 54% possession & 7 shots on target to Lokomotiv’s 3.
The pros to this method are that it evaluates 3 areas which can be very random. Any side no matter the average rating of their 11 on the field can score the first goal, it is also not unheard of that a team can have the most shots on target but not the most possession meaning the final score in extra time can be very random. However the cons are that because the stats can be random a team can have the most shots on goal & therefore debatably be the most likely winner but lose 2-1 due to not scoring the first goal & having less possession. Furthermore possession can be tied 50-50 meaning that even with this method of fictional extra time there might not be a winner.

It is proposed that from Season 3 onwards one of the methods be used or perhaps both could be in the event of whichever method is used as the primary results in a tie still & therefore the 2nd would come into play, for example;
Average Rating Totals is used as the primary method however at the end of the game the score is a tie & as are the average rating totals of the starting 11’s of both sides (70-70) again as an example. We could then refer to the Match Stat Criteria in order to find a winner between the two sides.
In the highly unlikely outcome that both Average Rating Totals & Match Stat Criteria resulted in a draw I would suggest that the team whom had the MOTM in their 11 would progress to the next stage.
The Managerial Sacking Debate
Top 100 maintains various codes of conduct & sporting managers willing to risk it all in fairness to the game world. Current rules of the game world state that managers / clubs who finish in the bottom 2 places of a division (19th & 20th) will part ways in keeping things realistic to the point that the manager has not delivered what a club would aim for over the course of a season.
There are 3 current proposals in regards to the sackings of managers to discuss.
1: Managerial Sackings with Self-Imposed Stipulations
No criteria for keeping your job whatsoever. Upon taking a club you know the risks & must evaluate the clubs stance within the league & agree that in taking the club on you are doing so knowing that if you finish 19th or 20th you will be sacked. Should you join in game week 1 or 36 you do so knowing that finishing 19th or 20th will see your time at the club ended. A no ifs, no buts, ruling. We have managerial sackings in Top 100 & therefore they should be imposed no matter what.
Avoids any grey areas in why some managers receive more ’leeway’ in keeping their job at a club compared to another.
It could also be proposed that managers wishing to seek a real challenge & also apply sporting / gentlemanly conduct could impose their own manager stipulations as an act of realism & also granting a fair & realistic opportunity to managers in Top 100 whom would revell at the chance to take on a club which without such stipulations could happily be managed continually without the worry of ever being in a sackable position.
An example;
Juventus under DP91 proposes that in an introduction of managerial stipulations he would ‘hand in his resignation’ should Juventus fail to achieve any of the following conditions in one season;
- Juventus finish below 7th in Division 1
- Juventus do not make a final in any of the cup competitions
In the scenario that Juventus finish in 8th-20th position in any seasonal campaign & also fail to make it to the final of any of Top 100's cup competitions DP91 would resign with immediate effect & seek employment at another club within Top 100.
It is key to note that self-imposed stipulations are completely voluntary & no manager within Top 100 is asked to apply such criteria to their management of a club. These stipulations are proposed as a means of keeping the game world forward thinking, competitive, realistic & fair to all within Top 100 & are the basis of sporting / gentlemanly conduct in keeping to any proposed stipulations which cannot be enforced by Frank Hirst / any of the Top 100 community.
2: Criteria Based Managerial Sackings & Stipulations
Various criteria can however count in a managers favour when underachieving;
- Time in Charge - A manager's total number of games with a club will be considered if they are in a position to warrant being sacked. Should a manager have had half a season or less in control of a club (>20 games) they may be granted extra time with the club in the following season.
- Managerial History - Should a manager have won promotion to a higher division the previous season to the one they find themselves in a position to warrant being sacked this will be considered.
- Club Achievements - If a manager has won a trophy during the season they find themselves in a position to warrant being sacked this will benefit their chances of maintaining their job.
- GameWorld Contributions - A mixture of contributions to the blog, news feed & general social scene within Top 100 could count as a positive in a managers favour should they see themselves in a position that would warrant being sacked.
Manager Stipulations have been proposed which would see managers whom, for whatever reasons avoided being sacked, would have to meet in the following season in order to keep their job in the following season. These stipulations would be agreed upon by a contingency of managers chosen from within the Top 100 community & would then be applied. These stipulations would be the basis of sporting / gentlemanly conduct due to restrains to apply such criteria within SM itself & would be the basis of the manager resigning themselves if they failed to meet the set targets.
These stipulations are proposed on the basis of positioning Top 100 as one of the most forward thinking custom game worlds in SM as well as being sporting & more than anything the most competitive & realistic.
Some example stipulations based on the current Season 2 campaign in Top 100.
Division 1
Olympique Lyon appointed Warren Livesey midway through the season & upon finishing the season will have completed 13 games as Lyon manager. Should Lyon finish 19th he will be sacked however due to completing >20 games as manager will be offered the chance to take control of Lyon for the following season.
The proposal is now to introduce stipulations as a measure of the manager for the following campaign due to allowing said manager to continue further despite being sacked.
A proposed stipulation in this case would be that Olympique Lyon under Warren Livesey must finish in the top 7 (Playoffs or better) the following season or achieve a cup final or a trophy to keep his job past that forthcoming season, in this case it would be season 4.
- Olympique Lyon must finish 7th or better in season 3.
- Olympique Lyon can additionally achieve a cup final for Warren Livesey to maintain his job at the club.
An additional example from Division 1 is that of the potential season outcome that AC Milan under Stephen Beddows finish in 19th position which would warrant his sacking from Milan.
Stephen will have been in charge at Milan for a total of 74 games after the end of the season 2 campaign meaning he is illegible to keep his job on the basis of 'Time in Charge' coupled with 'Managerial History' & 'Club Achievements' however as the most influential in creating competitive competitions, as well as maintaining & promoting said competitions he could be granted managerial stipulations should he finish in 19th but want to continue as manager of AC Milan.
A proposed stipulation in this case would be that AC Milan under Stephen Beddows must finish in the top 7 (Playoffs or better) the following season only, in order to keep his job past that forthcoming season, in this case it would be season 4.
Due to Stephen's failure to attain positive 'Managerial History' or 'Club Achievements' in his 74 games as Milan manager he would not have the chance to save his job by achieving such successes in the forthcoming season in comparison to Warren Livesey who is granted additional opportunities to save his job.
- AC Milan must finish in 7th or better in season 3 for Stephen Beddows to maintain his job at the club.
3: No Manager Sackings
Of course there is also an option to remove managerial sackings all together however that would take away from the competitive nature of Top 100 whilst also allowing managers who are in the bottom positions of each division to not fight to survive or even finish in 17th or 18th rather than 19th or 20th. An option all the same.

Galatasaray Cleanup Underway
Galatasaray fc were officially relegated from division 1 last night.with the club looking at the costs of this and looking at what the future might hold for there current manager.it was less known what the financial cost of repairs will be after the very passionate fans stormed the pitch shouting persia out and continuing to cause destruction to the seats. and anything else they could get there hands on.
Its understood that manager prince of persia was barricaded into a room and refused to leave untill riot police arrived.With the gala fans very well known to police it was decided to refuse to attend the game and hope the gala fans became bored.this was however the wrong move and riot police did turn up at 6am to disperse the crowd with the cleanup now happening this evening.
Gala chairman unal aysal has said we can confirm that our fans rightly weren't happy last night and have taken out there anger in the wrong way. our manager was unharmed and gave the players a few days of.
With the prince of persia at risk of being sacked its an unknown for the gala fans what really is in store for them next season.
