The Rhine Runs Red
On a beautifully crisp clear Sunday night, the Rhine turned crimson red in a tough tacking, hard-fought battle in the Division 5 playoffs.
There were three red cards in total between FC Basel and River Plate, Joe Allen, Roman Neustadter and Matias Kranevitter all saw the locker room early.

Crucially the red cards for Basel were within 2 minutes of each other, and whilst they admirably held on for a further 20 minutes, a sublime Ibrahima Traore free kick decided the match.

The crucial win now moves River Plate to within one point of 6th place Basel.
River Plate have a tough run in, with more away games than home games but the club are in a one game at a time mentality.
