When Top 100 was born, it was clear that the small clubs would require loyal, determined manager. Which is why Aston Villa approached me. With the talent this team has, it was impossible to turn them down.

The first piece of business was to exchange Jordan Amavi for Filip Djuricic of Benfica. The Benfica manager is known to be good pals with the Villa manager and that felicitated the transfer. Filip was pleased to be back in England after a loan stint at Southampton last season and he conveyed his eagerness to play for this club. So here he is.
Aly Cissokho was also sent back by the Porto manager, which gives me a direct replacement for Amavi. Hurray.
Haven’t spent as yet, as I continue to assess my squad. The pre-season was bad, normally that ensures a top season.
Division 3 has bunch of decent teams, and Villa have high aspirations of promoting this season. The emphasis will be on youth, as is key with many of Rahul’s teams.
As such, expectations were high for the first game. And we did not disappoint. We played like Louis van Gaal’s Utd, but we came away with 3 points. The American Brad Guzan put in a MOTM performance, but it was Phil Senderos who scored the winner off a Gabby Agbonlahor cross. 3 important away points.
Focus turns to the first home game against Cruzeiro, and we shall not disappoint our fans.
Phil Senderos makes the first TOTW of the season, which is pleasing.
Rahul also makes it clear that he will not sell his star players but are open to offers anyway that are irresistible to decline.
