Another massive three points at the Veltins Arena as Schalke’s remarkable turnaround continues!

Before kick-off, manager Tom Lee promised to throw his new recruits in at the deep end, and he certainly delivered on that promise.

Five new signings made their debuts tonight!

Talbi, Denisov and Guzmán were all handed their first starts, with Guzmán completing the full 90 minutes. Rego and Villagra were introduced from the bench on the hour mark as Lee continued to integrate his new-look squad.

Bernardo opened the scoring in the 39th minute, only for Olympiacos to equalise almost immediately. With the game heading towards a draw, Cardoso stepped up in the 88th minute to snatch a dramatic winner!

Tom Lee spoke after the match:

‘I said before the game that it was sink or swim for some of the new lads, and I couldn’t be happier with how they’ve responded. Five debuts in a game of this importance is a gamble, but these players have been brought here for a reason.

We’re still a work in progress, but the belief in this dressing room is growing with every game. We’ve come a long way in a short space of time, but there’s still plenty of work ahead.’
