Fireworks tonight in Madrid main square as Beddows delivered silverware in his very first game in charge of Madrid.

Beddows was hailed an instant hero as his new Madrid side ended 2017 with silverware as they won the inaugural ROY KEANE MEMORIAL CUP - a friendly cup final v Stuttgart.
Beddows, who only arrived in Madrid on Friday - named a largely unchanged squad with a few debutants including Mahrez, Meunier, Kruse and of course new Madrid club captain Mario Balotelli.
Madrid cantered to their first silverware of the Beddows era (albeit Mickey Mouse silverware - it still counts) With Mario and Greizzmann the stars - Mario scoring 2x on his debut and Greizmann completing the rout.

QUESTION: Leaving Milan must have been very hard - what memories will you take with you?
"Many, many - two years is a long time to dedicate to anything - let alone team on Soccer Manager - I poured everything into that team, my heart and my soul. The highlight has to have been the 6th place finish in Division One - when the dinosaurs stats had predicted we should finish 18th! The low point probably losing in the SMFA Shield Final - getting promoted was brilliant - but we did lose the title on the last day to Spurs. Mixed bag - but memories to last a lifetime."
QUESTION: What of your rivals? Will you miss them?
"Well in terms of Milan's rivals I will always have very little admiration for most Italian based managers, Hirst, DP, Mclean - not really very nice people if we are honest. We were the bigger "man" in these relationships and obviously came out of most battles with our head held high!
QUESTION: What do you mean not very nice?
They always seemed to want to see me fail! Well, who is sitting here in this chair right now? And you can tell Mclean I said that!
QUESTION: What are your plans at Madrid?
Well I don't want to be labelled Moyes - so winning something is important - the World Club Cup will be a great start? As for what else - I think a rebuild is generally in order - the first team is brilliant - but there is no depth - no bench of quality to fight on all fronts. The youth team has taken a battering due to Roy's mental collapse in his final days and that is our 2nd priority. We want to challenge but that will be incredibly tough!
QUESTION: Why Mario? And can he honestly score the goals at the top top level?
Why not? If you compare Mario goal-scoring stats across SM they are incredible - Kruse too - it is no coincidence that we bought him in - ok he will predominately be on the bench but he will score and he will contribute massively with assists - watch this space.
Also Mario and me have a personal connection - back in 2007/2008 when I was living in Italy, the first match I took my step-son to (he was 7) was Inter v Fiorentina and Balotelli then aged 17/18 scored the 2nd goal and we were up in the gods behind the goal - for that reason I will always love him :)

Ah ok, sorry I thought there was only one team in Madrid - my mistake - well they can't be very good if they have been relegated before can they? And why have a medical man in charge - even Mclean or some other poor excuse for a manager like Ancic or Scallotti could do a better job than a medical man!

Are you on some sort of crazy Scottish water - alliance with DP - more chance of the Dinosaur getting his stats right - and I bet I can be predicted for 13th place finish next season cus that is what the president has set us as a target!

I will be honest with you - it is a dream - but presently our team I don't think is ready for a Youth Cup challenge - in all fairness we might (due to World Cup call ups) use the next two matches as youth cup games in order to see where the gaps lie as they is some work to be done in that department.

Lets stop such stupid talk - I got this job because I was the best one of the 99 candidates - Guri wasn't given the job as he can't speak Spanish, Lee Reynolds - well I'd best not disclose why he wasn't even in the top 50 candidates.
Josh Mcmillan, Mark Stewart - both good managers but quite odd individuals the later likes tram spotting and there are no trams in Madrid and Josh likes bettle fighting - WTF right? Google it!
Nick Wheels was considered but the Brazilian government said no. Garry Crawford broke his back, DP was too boring for the President's tastes!

The Sweary Caves of Dovedale - Our upcoming UK break
Well, after all the hurdy-gurdy of the play offs, the season and the managerial merry go round a gaffer needs to unwind so that's why myself, Nick Wheels, Mr Stephen Beddows and of course, Big Barbs, herself escaping the revolving door at Marseille, decided on a cultural trip to the U.K.
Knowing all the Scottish managers would still be back home until well after Hogmanay I phoned up Gordon 'Gino' Kinnear in the hope of meeting up with them all in Edinburgh.
'Oh hi Gordon, tis Nick Wheels here.' 'Myself, Beddows and Big Barbs wanted to come and see you all after the season end, have a catch up & a few beers, what d'ya say?'
'Beers? Well I spose you can have a tin of McEwans, the one that's already open mind. Ach noh, you'll be no good coming here, the powers off, we're snowed in, the cold will devolve you continental types of yer knackers if ya come up here'.
'Anyway, we're off on a charabanc tour of the distilleries, by night, in the full moon, with 'Crowbar' McGinty driving us and he hates strangers'.
'Nah, what yous want is a gentle tour of Southern England, dead friendly they are down their, I'll send you an itinerary. cheap at the price too.'
'Oh, ok thanks Gordon,' I started to say then heard a voice say 'who the fuck's that?' 'Ahh, no bastard fucker, never you mind' then the phone went dead.
However good to his word the itinerary came through today and I must say, it looks peachy.
We start the trip off at a place called 'January Land' It looks a a divine little place that should really give us a flavour of South England and get the tour off to a cracking start.
Next up are two places very near to each other,
Wasp World and Hornet World.
They each have their own little cafes and medical facilities 'Don't they just sound so wonderful?
The next day we head to Queue Gardens, one of England's most revered botanical gems. As a keen gardener I can't wait.
Then if we still have time before our freight cruise ship leaves Felixstowe docks we'll be calling in at this cute little English hostelry, Gordon said it was a favourite of his whenever he heads down South so be sure to visit and mention his name. I imagine it to be all olde worlde and Victorian inside with flagons of olde ale and a warm fire in the hearth.
After I paid Alex McLean Travel the £15000 fee I showed the itinerary to Beddows and Big Barbs. Beddows looked a little taken aback, 'are you sure this is on the level?' 'And Balotelli really stayed at that pub?'
'That's what Gordon said' I replied. Look, they've even sent us a magazine each, one for you about bees Mr B, ha ha, and a more light-hearted one for you Big Barbs.
Barbs just grunted and said if she didn't get to go to the Swearing Caves of Dovedale there'd be trouble. Oh that Barbs and her Sweary Caves!
There it is then, I can't wait to get started and just relax, take in the English culture, meet the friendly locals and enjoy the company.
Levante - End of year review
The last 8 months, since Saviano joined Levante, have been a roller coaster ride for the Valencian team and their supporters. The promotion, achieved as underdog through the play-off, generated an euphoric state, that led to a wonderful pre-season (4 wins and 1 draw, against really good teams) and great expectations.
“I really believed that we could struggle for a play-off spot- said Saviano.- But after 5 matches it was clear that our goal must have been to survive in Div 4."
To make things worse and worse, the team went under Transfer Ban for an incredible mistake:” After Rossi turned 22, we needed a GK for the Youth Cup. I didn’t see anything interesting on the market, so I took the first available on loan. I didn’t imagine that loans in count for the squad limit, and I still think that it is an unfair rule."
After half a season, Levante was 19th with 15 points. “In that moment I realized that was unuseful to have old players in the team, if they aren’t decisive."
So, key players for the promotion (Corluka, Sissoko, Nilmar, Gentner) were sold for younger, less rated, players (Fred, Karsdorp, Di Francesco among all). Surprisingly, the results bettered, also thanks to a new scheme, 4-2-3-1.
Because of the terrible first half of the season, the team wasn’t able to be safe before the last match. “It has been a Champions League final for us and our opponents, Matt Morris with his Basel, with the Division 4 as prize for both of us. But the guys managed to reach our objective."
After 30 points in the second haf of the season, is there a risk to have again great expectations for next season? “Our supporters want to reach Valencia’s level. Looking at their recent performances, I think that we can do that staying in Div 4 for 2 season, waiting them to be relegated twice."
What’s the plan for next season? “We will try to make the team younger, but we can’t continue to lose rating.: players like Jallet and Diarra will stay, unless we get huge offers, which I don’t expect. Everybody know that we need a left back, but i trust Alonso and Lima, if nobody arrive they will fight to start every week."

The division where winning isn't enough.
Might seen cruel that Monaco are so lowely rated, but they were head and shoulders above the rest so it was a walk in the park. Torino and Twente were also highly ranked ,so only one of the top 4 figure in the best scores.
Anderlecht , Bremen and Augsburg have the best VA with 3rd spot Anderlecht claiming the overall crown.
Bremen and Augsburg 6th and 8th respectively also come 2nd and 3rd in the PVA. Montpellier who grab a playoff spot also had a great VA on +9.
Worse performers were Cologne - 10 VA and -0.47 PVA. West Ham Espanyol , River Plate who should all have been in the playoffs or promoted fill the remaining lower positions. Espanyol in the play offs may feel annoyed but they should have been promoted automatically ..

Best value added +12, goes to Dynamo Kiev and Sao Paulo but they had too much to gain on Hertha Berlin the PVA leader and champions.
A notable + 10 for Dynamo Moscow and +7 for relegation favoured Dynamo Zagreb. 4th place Palace also had the fourth highest PVA of +2.
At the wrong end, Basel have the worse PVA and VA of - 15. Liege struggle to impress 6 places lower than they should have been . Malaga were 7 places lower and got relegated. Second lowest VA is for Celta Vigo who came 9 places lower than they should .

The Hoff have a massive +13 VA and +14 PVA.. Chievo close on +13 VA and 2.8 PVA with Celtic 2nd place in league and PVA.
St Etienne also had a great season +5 VA +2 PVA, special mention must go to Hamburg on +8 VA who fell at the last hurdle, and Cruziero with +8 VA.
PSV failed to impress on -14 VA and -0.87 PVA, arguably the weakest performance in all 5 division was Hellas who were predicted 2nd but came last on -18 VA with also relegate Marsielle not far behind.

monaco announce new manager
as monaco have announced former leicester city manager nathan prince as there new manager.
with the top 100 manager merry go round in full swing AS monaco have decided to appoint nathan as there new head coach after andre villas boas left for hellas verona despite leading the team to division 5 champions.
as monaco will be hoping nathan can achive the same success as he did with leicester city and guide monaco to division 3 within 1 season.
dmitry rybolovlev said im very happy to have brought nathan in as head coach after he guided leicester city to promotion to division 3 which of course is our aim next season.
new manager nathan said im very happy to be here at this magnificent club. i intend to get this club promoted into division 3 and im very confident with the talent of players at this club. its now time to get to work and start preerations for next season.
there will no doubt be massive pressure on the new manager to deliver that all important promotion the owner demands. if nathans previous jobs are to go by then transfers will be pivotel for him to stamp is authority on the monaco dressing room.

Liverpool come 2nd in PVA and VA with Man City scoring highly in both.

Celtic Manager reflects on the past, the future and a bit of the now...
Celtic begin the preparations for life in Division Two with the signing of Fabio Borini from Leicester City in a deal that has out of favour Defender Bruno Martins-Indi heading the other way. Celtic Manager Sir Kevin Wallace spoke to the press shortly after the arrival of Borini and discussed the season just ended and his plans for the step up following Celtic’s successful promotion season.
‘Its been a bit of a rollercoaster season for us, good runs then a bit of madness and maybe just too many draws but the aim was to survive first, try for the play-offs second and automatic promotion was the ultimate goal…to achieve that in my first season here and to build on the work of two promotions achieved by my predecessor has I hope delighted the supporters and allowed them to dream of yet better things to come’
‘We are realistic, Division Two is a step up again and we will once again follow the three step policy that sees survival as the only goal we focus on until that is achieved, then and only then do we look forward, this is a big club with a loyal support which regularly fills 60,000 seats at Celtic Park and the rise from Division 5 to 2 in three seasons has been the result of hard work by everyone at the club but you can’t rest on that, the competition gets harder and you have to up your efforts all the time. The supporters know I am in this for the long haul and we will all work together to achieve our aims’
‘We could have won the league this year, we accept that points were dropped and I take the blame for that, my cautious attitude maybe didn’t allow the players full flow to express themselves, you learn and you adapt and I think we may have some surprises in store for a good few sides next season.’
‘I don’t expect many additions to the squad as we have a superb core running through the team from Fernandez and Dragovic at the back to the excellent cover and creativity in front of them in Paulinho and Milinkovic-Savic and then the lads pushing forward in Chadli, Raffael and Shane Long…this is a spine of a team that doesn’t need much work and in truth I will be reducing the squad a bit this season and our focus is on maybe a couple of decent backup players just to give a bit of depth but I know this squad can survive and move forward at a higher level.’
‘One area I wanted to improve was up front, Borini is a proven scorer with a near 50% goals to games ratio in the past few seasons which is impressive given how little some managers have used him, add to that his ability to drop back and play wide he is exactly what I wanted to bring in and I am delighted to have secured him so early in the planning for next season that he gets time to play and fit in to our system…we also have Jordan Rhodes who has done well and Lucas Viatri who never lets me down and between those three we will score goals and still have the midfield three as a threat as well’
‘I’d also like to say a word about our keeper Stefanos Kapino, he’s a young lad, he took his chance when he got it and he never let me down once and has deserved the run of games he got and was always my first choice keeper for the season, I know he will continue to grow and learn and it’s nice to know I have a keeper who I can trust.’
‘We will look back over the season, analyse a few decisions in games we lost or drew and look at what worked as well, and then we will focus on Division Two, survival and returning Celtic to the top level as soon as we can’
